His lover perched on the wall above the gate, staring out across the snow. She glanced over toward him at the sound of his boots on the snow and offered him a faint smile. \u201cHow\u2019s Phelan?\u201d she asked softly, gently.<\/p>\n
Seamus shook his head. \u201cNot good. Can you come down?\u201d<\/p>\n
Leinth hesitated a moment before she nodded, coming down from her perch and smoothing her robes once she had her feet on solid ground again. \u201cWhat\u2019s the matter?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI need your help,\u201d Seamus said. \u201cWe need to find Eri\u00fa.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s not entirely enamored of me,\u201d Leinth said. \u201cNone of them are, really.\u201d<\/p>\n
Seamus winced. \u201cThat can\u2019t be true.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI happen to think it is.\u201d Leinth resettled her cloak across her shoulders and peered up at her lover. \u201cAre you going to tell me what\u2019s wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cPhelan has amnesia. Rather badly, too, it seems. Eri\u00fa may be able to help or at least give us some insight.\u201d<\/p>\n
Leinth frowned. \u201cAre you sure?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s the only one who can tell us that for certain, anyway. Will you help me find her?\u201d<\/p>\n
His lover sighed and nodded. \u201cOf course I will, Seamus. You know that.\u201d She hesitated moment. \u201cHave you talked to them about what the Hunt offered? About…about what they asked in return for your freedom?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNo,\u201d he said quietly. \u201cWe haven\u2019t had that discussion yet. Once we\u2019ve gotten Phelan…\u201d He broke off, sighing and shaking his head. \u201cI\u2019ll talk to Marin again. She knows what they offered. So does Neve. We just haven\u2019t…we haven\u2019t talked to the rest of them yet. It\u2019s a delicate thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI know it, but it\u2019s an important thing.\u201d Leinth touched his cheek with chill, bare fingers. \u201cIt\u2019s incredibly important to the people who love you.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI know,\u201d Seamus whispered. He leaned in and kissed her gently. \u201cDon\u2019t you think it\u2019s important to me, too? I\u2019ll talk to them. But we have to get through this first.\u201d<\/p>\n
