The words were met by a few minutes of stunned silence before Kellin cleared her throat. \u201cA home,\u201d she echoed. \u201cAre we to assume that they want that home to be here?\u201d<\/p>\n
Seamus grimaced , though he met her gaze head-on. \u201cThat was their hope, anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAll of them?\u201d Davon asked. \u201cThere\u2019s three dozen of them.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNot all of them,\u201d Seamus said. \u201cAnd not all at once. But there are some that I\u2019ve\u2014that I\u2019ve ridden with for a very long time and they\u2019re tired of being rootless, of having nowhere to stop and lay their heads and be safe for a time. They\u2019re not asking for us\u2014for you\u2014to welcome them with open arms. They just don\u2019t want to be turned away.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTheir presence could put us in danger,\u201d Kellin said quietly.<\/p>\n
Seamus nodded. \u201cI won\u2019t deny that.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWould they?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n
Seamus shook his head. \u201cThey know it. They would more than willing to aid in any defense needed.\u201d He swallowed hard, voice cracking. \u201cThis would be their home, too.\u201d<\/p>\n
Neve bit her lip. \u201cTell them why the Hunt asked, Seamus. Tell them what they offered in return.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s not important.\u201d<\/p>\n
J.T. tilted his head, arm tightening around Carolyn. \u201cAre you sure, Seamus?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt shouldn\u2019t make a difference,\u201d Seamus said.<\/p>\n
\u201cLay all the cards on the table, Seamus,\u201d Thom said, his voice quietly commanding. \u201cLet us decide if what they\u2019re offering in exchange matters or not.\u201d<\/p>\n
