\u201cWhat are you doing here?\u201d she asked, her approach slow, cautious. We all thought you lost or dead\u2014not that it much matters at this point, considering Thordin. Perhaps he\u2019s not the only one.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI could ask the same of you.\u201d His eyes gleamed like deep water. \u201cAre they yours, the ones who dwell here?\u201d<\/p>\n

Leinth quirked a brow. \u201cDo you truly think me capable of such a thing? No. They\u2019re not mine. They simply suffer me to live among them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Leviathan nodded slowly, stepping away from the line of his ghostly followers to stop a few feet away from her. They stared at each other across a patch of bare ground, wary as cats in unfamiliar territory. \u201cIt didn\u2019t feel like your power anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy power?\u201d she echoed. Her stomach dropped. What\u2019s he on about?<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cMm. I\u2019ve slumbered beneath the waters to the west. I felt the earth move, and still I slept. The water rose and I was content. It grew cold, but all was still well enough, because the waters were alive even despite the chill. I continued to rest at peace. And then I felt something.\u201d Leviathan tilted his head to one side. \u201cThe spirits grew restless and the power that lives beneath the waters stirred. It woke the powers, and so I to awoke.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo you came here?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI can feel the power here,\u201d Leviathan said simply. \u201cAre you going to tell me that you know nothing of any of this?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s power here,\u201d Leinth admitted. \u201cEven a fool can tell.\u201d Her gaze drifted toward the army of ghosts at his back. \u201cWhy do you bring them, Leviathan? Have you come for a fight?\u201d<\/p>\n
