\u201cAre you sure we have to?\u201d Phelan muttered. I glared at him.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes on both counts,\u201d I said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHave to what?\u201d Neve had appeared seemingly out of nowhere, her hands shoved deep into the pockets of her sweatshirt.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll let them tell you. Come on, Phelan.\u201d<\/p>\n
Phelan glanced between his cousin and I for a moment before he nodded. \u201cRight. Neve, let Jac know I\u2019m in one piece, okay? I don\u2019t know that she\u2019ll worry, but just in case.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat the hell just happened?\u201d Neve demanded, rounding on my brother, who cringed slightly. I tried valiantly to smother my smile as I hurried away from the fire, not entirely sure I wanted to witness whatever was about to go down in the center of the tent.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re a cruel woman, leann\u00e1n<\/em>,\u201d Phelan panted as he caught up with me, shaking his head. \u201cYou left your brother to deal with that.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s a big boy. He\u2019ll be fine.\u201d I ducked back out into the open air on the far side of the tent, staring out across the hillocks and snow toward the edge of the ravine. \u201cAt least for the moment, he\u2019ll be fine,\u201d I amended.<\/p>\n Phelan squeezed my shoulder. \u201cWe all will be,\u201d he murmured. \u201cYou know that.\u201d<\/p>\n I shivered. \u201cAt least I think I do.\u201d<\/p>\n I set off across the snow, leaving Phelan to trail in my wake.
