The dream he\u2019d had weighed more and more heavily on his thoughts the closer they got to the barrow. Matt hadn\u2019t given him much detail on the way, only that he and Marin had discovered something at the barrow that had been a cause for concern\u2014more than a little concern at that.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not that, is it?<\/em><\/p>\n

He had the sinking feeling that whatever Matt and Marin had discovered at the barrow had more than a little to do with his dream.<\/p>\n

\u201cDamn fog keeps getting thicker,\u201d Matt muttered as they passed the ruins of the Shakespeare garden. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t this bad this morning.\u201d<\/p>\n

A slight shiver worked its way down J.T.\u2019s spine. \u201cHow long have you been up?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJust after first light,\u201d Matt admitted. \u201cProbably too long. Couldn\u2019t sleep because something was bugging me. I couldn\u2019t put my finger on it until I was talking to Marin.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat something was going on out here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matt nodded, his expression grim. \u201cYeah. That.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHave you told anyone else?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t,\u201d Matt said. \u201cI thought about telling Hecate, but the last thing I want is her getting worried about something she doesn\u2019t need to worry about right now. She\u2019s got enough on her mind and getting her to stay here is a precarious proposition as it is.\u201d<\/p>\n

J.T. suppressed his wince as they started down the hill. \u201cDid Marin\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n

Matt smiled weakly. \u201cShe\u2019s okay with it. Now I just have to get them in the same room together and pray it\u2019s not as awkward as I\u2019m afraid it\u2019s going to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

J.T. clapped him on the shoulder, spirit momentarily buoyed. \u201cIt\u2019ll be okay,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI sure as hell hope so.\u201d He glanced away from J.T. and down toward the barrow, stopping dead in his tracks. This time, J.T. stopped too, following his gaze.<\/p>\n
