\u201cYou took your revenge on them,\u201d Thom said, looking away. Behind him, Seamus sighed softly.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t. My brothers in arms taught him a lesson about respect.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing to do with you?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything to do with me. I just wasn\u2019t involved.\u201d Seamus dried up alongside him and rested his palm against the wall. \u201cThey won\u2019t linger here forever as much as some of them want to and the way the world is changing I fear has left them vulnerable to outside forces in ways that we never have been before. It worries me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDoes it worry everyone else the way you still talk about yourself like you were still one of them?\u201d<\/p>\n

Seamus winced. \u201cI deserved that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t an attack. Just an observation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seamus drew a deep breath and exhaled it slowly. \u201cLike I said. It\u2019s hard to separate myself still. It was part of my identity for too long.\u201d He closed his eyes. \u201cThe point remains that we have work to do on the defenses at the back side as much as we do here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe way you were talking made it sound like either way would be futile.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seamus exhaled. \u201cI hope it wouldn\u2019t be,\u201d he murmured. \u201cTruly, I do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thom grunted, staring at the wall. \u201cThis is all I\u2019ve got, Seamus. And if we lose the Wild Hunt, I\u2019ve got no idea what we\u2019ll do. I don\u2019t know if we can turn back whatever shows up without them. Now you\u2019re telling me that I might lose them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWorse, they might turn if the right pressure is applied.\u201d Seamus shook his head. \u201cDon\u2019t ask me what the right pressure is. I don\u2019t know. Nothing\u2019s certain these days, not anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFucking perfect,\u201d Thom muttered. He closed his eyes and sighed.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll just have to keep hoping, I guess.<\/em><\/p>\n
