She ran her fingers along its cover, across the words printed on the spine in faded gold leaf. \u201cHe said that he\u2019s got a bad feeling,\u201d she said softly, staring at the book in her hands. \u201cIt used to be that when my brothers would say things like that, I\u2019d take it with a grain of salt, but now&#8230;now I feel like I should brace myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Leinth winced. \u201cWas that why he was out there? Because he\u2019s got a bad feeling?\u201d <em>Damnation, I shouldn\u2019t have told him he woke me with his nightmares. The fact that he can\u2019t remember them is doing worse to him than I thought it would.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt sounds like it,\u201d Neve said, setting the book down. \u201cHe seems distant again. It worries me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Leinth took a deep breath and exhaled it slowly. \u201cI\u2019ll talk to him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe asked if you\u2019d sent me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A shiver worked its way down her spine and Leinth sighed, knuckling her eyes. \u201cDid you tell him that I hadn\u2019t?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neve nodded. \u201cHe said maybe you should have.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Hell.<\/em> Her lips thinned and she shook her head. \u201cI\u2019ll talk to him,\u201d she repeated, then reached for another book. Neve put a hand on hers, stopping her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat are we going to do, Leinth?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know yet,\u201d she said, rubbing at her temple. \u201cBut we\u2019ll think of something. We have to. It\u2019s like I said, I\u2019m sure everything will be fine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neve stared at her hands, chewing her lip. Leinth reached over to squeeze her arm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow stop fretting,\u201d Leinth murmured. \u201cIt\u2019s bad for the twins.\u201d She stood up and circled the table, stopping behind Neve to press a kiss to the top of the younger woman\u2019s head. \u201cAll of this can wait. Go to Cameron and try not to feed on each other\u2019s worry. He needs your support now, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neve sighed, looking up at her. \u201cWhat\u2019s going to happen to us, Leinth?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhatever Fate wills,\u201d Leinth said, then smiled faintly. \u201cUnless we don\u2019t find her plans to our liking, in which case we\u2019ll scotch her plans and find our own way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She gave Neve another squeeze and walked out into the afternoon sun.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[This post is from Leinth&#8217;s point of view.] Neve reached for one of the books that stood stacked in front of Leinth.
