Seamus winced at the amount of blood on the floor of the watchtower, at the bruises forming on Thom\u2019s face and exposed flesh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>D\u00e9ithe agus arrachtaigh<\/em>,\u201d he breathed, his feet carrying him to Thom\u2019s side before conscious thought sent him there. He dropped to his knees alongside J.T. \u201cHis ribs are broken,\u201d he said, the words slipping out before he could process what was happening, what he was doing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat wouldn\u2019t surprise me,\u201d J.T. grunted. This time he did glance up, gaze searching Seamus\u2019s face. \u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Seamus startled, tearing his eyes away from Thom. \u201cHuh?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou look like you\u2019re in shock,\u201d J.T. said, his brow furrowing. \u201cAre you okay?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah,\u201d Seamus said quickly. \u201cYeah, I\u2019m fine. Nothing touched me up there. Tell me what you need me to do here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGet his knee stabilized and tell me why the hell a <em>camazotzi<\/em>\u2019s claws would suddenly start affecting someone like this. That\u2019d be a good start.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t have an answer for that, not yet,\u201d Seamus said, catching the roll of bandages J.T. tossed him. He barely needed to look to see which knee the former paramedic was talking about; one of Thom\u2019s knees had already swollen up to twice its normal size.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat looks like a bad sign,\u201d Matt said from behind Seamus\u2019s shoulder. The younger man swallowed, staring at Thom even as Seamus risked a look back over his shoulder at him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTypically,\u201d Seamus agreed. \u201cBut it could just be soft tissue. We\u2019ll figure it out.\u201d He hoped that\u2019s all it was. Fixing anything more than that with what they had at hand would be difficult to say the least unless Jacqueline had more control over her gifts than he\u2019d observed thus far.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t do anything?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Matt\u2019s question left him cold, as if ice water had been poured through his veins.
