\u201cWhy do I get the feeling you\u2019re lying to us about that?\u201d<\/p>\n

There was no threat in Matt\u2019s voice, though Seamus still didn\u2019t like the tone or the feeling like he\u2019d been caught out in a lie\u2014he had been, but he still didn\u2019t like being caught in it. Seamus stared at the other man, feeling an uncomfortable flutter in his stomach.<\/p>\n

He knows. Somehow, he bloody well knows.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cDruids<\/em>,\u201d he muttered under his breath, the term less a title and more a curse.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeamus\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n

He shook his head, cutting J.T.\u2019s question off as he braced and wrapped Thom\u2019s knee. \u201cNot now,\u201d he muttered. \u201cMaybe not ever again, I don\u2019t know. I still have the sense but healing\u2019s been beyond my reach for\u2014for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The words tasted like ashes on his tongue. A healer\u2019s sensing magic was still something that he had, something he\u2019d never lost\u2014he\u2019d wondered in times long past if he\u2019d managed to retain them because it helped the warrior he\u2019d become gauge the weaknesses of his opponents. But the ability to actually heal<\/em> another\u2014<\/p>\n

That was long gone, left somewhere long ago and far away.<\/p>\n

He fastened the bandages and glanced up again, feeling the weight of their eyes, their gazes on him. Seamus took a breath. \u201cAre you ready to move him?\u201d he asked, his voice firm.<\/p>\n

J.T. stared back at him for a long moment and then nodded. \u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGood. Let\u2019s get the hell out of this storm.\u201d Seamus glanced back toward the ladder, then at the other men. \u201cThe Hunt has the watch. We should be all right.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully, the storm\u2019ll let up soon,\u201d Matt murmured, watching the clouds. He didn\u2019t sound confident that it would.<\/p>\n

Neither was Seamus, for that matter, but time would tell in that, just as it would in all things.<\/p>\n
