There was love and fear and hope in his gaze, nervousness that she could understand, uncertainty that she felt, too. Somehow, they would make it, but the question, as always, would be <em>how<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Artorius made a snuffling sound, a precursor to waking. Cameron smiled at her and turned his face just enough to kiss her palm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomeone\u2019s about to announce that he\u2019s hungry,\u201d he murmured. Neve smiled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s not the only one that\u2019s hungry, but I guess I\u2019ll have to wait a little while longer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you want me to go find you something?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She shook her head, then looked down. Artorius squirmed in his swaddle, face scrunched, likely about to cry. She brushed her finger against his cheek and he turned toward it, expression easing and his mouth reaching for her fingertip. Neve smiled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d rather you stay,\u201d she said as she adjusted herself and her son slightly, bringing him to her breast before he was fully awake. \u201cSomeone\u2019s going to come check on us sooner or later, and when they do, we can send <em>them<\/em> for food\u2014for both of us. You haven\u2019t eaten yet, either, have you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI ate a little while you were asleep,\u201d he admitted. \u201cSeamus spelled me for about half an hour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neve arched a brow. \u201cHe was here?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>He didn\u2019t wake me. How did I not realize he\u2019d been here? Why didn\u2019t he wake me?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Cameron nodded, still seated on the edge of the bed. \u201cEarly, though after the sun came up. He looked exhausted\u2014hadn\u2019t been to bed yet, I guess. I tried to be quick so he could try to get some rest. Not sure if he did or not, though.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She exhaled, brows knitting. \u201cI\u2019ll have to talk to him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLater,\u201d Cameron said, shifting their daughter in his arms. \u201cIt can wait. I\u2019m hoping he got some sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMe, too,\u201d Neve said, then sighed. \u201cWhat about Hecate? Has she been here?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot since she left last night,\u201d Cameron said. \u201cShe looked pretty worn out by the time it was all over. I hope Matt made sure <em>she <\/em>got some rest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sure he did.\u201d Neve sighed softly, closing her eyes for a moment. \u201cI\u2019m glad she was here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMe too,\u201d Cameron murmured. \u201cDespite everything we went through before with her, I\u2019m glad she was here, too.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[This post is from Neve&#8217;s point of view.] Neve stroked his cheek for a moment with her thumb, staring into his eyes.
