It had been raining on and off here and there since the storm Thordin had called had abated, though it was hard to tell if that was in relation to his mood, a consequence of the storm itself, or if it was simply a natural occurrence. Time would tell\u2014we said it a lot, but it never seemed to stop being true.<\/p>\n<p>Time would tell for everything.<\/p>\n<p>Sif still hadn\u2019t regained consciousness, but J.T. and Jacqueline were constantly assuring Thordin that she\u2019d live, she just needed time to recover from the shock.<\/p>\n<p>I hoped they were right.<\/p>\n<p>Neve wasn\u2019t quite up and around yet, either, though that might have been more due to Cameron\u2019s worrying over her than any sort of actual problems following the birth of the twins. Hecate had been spending a lot of time with her, something that I was glad to see. Maybe the past really <em>could<\/em> be left in the past. It was a nice thought, anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Cariocecus appeared from somewhere in the tents, moving toward the walls, scanning the top. He spotted me well after I\u2019d spotted him and shifted direction slightly, moving dead-on toward me, as if seeing me told him where he needed to go. My stomach started to sink.<\/p>\n<p><em>Something\u2019s wrong.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He frowned as he drew closer, peering up at me, squinting through the sunshine that backlit me. \u201cWhat\u2019s that look for?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s wrong?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n<p>His brow furrowed for a moment, then he smiled and shook his head. \u201cNothing\u2019s wrong, Seer. There\u2019s just work to do and I have to leave so I can do it. I thought that you would like to know.
