Until that point, the pair had moved in companionable silence after leaving Rory by the fire. Each of them carried a mug of something steaming\u2014the last of an early batch of coffee for J.T., a mug of tea for Leinth\u2014along as they made what at least appeared to be a leisurely stroll south toward the barrow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat sort of dreams?\u201d She asked quietly. \u201cThe kind you told me about before? Those ones?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He grunted softly and nodded. \u201cThe ones I don\u2019t like talking about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHave you seen her again?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>J.T.\u2019s lips thinned and he stayed silent for a few minutes as they walked along the plaza, past the blue arch that swayed silently in the summer wind. \u201cYes,\u201d he finally said as they were halfway to their destination, outside of the ruins of the library at the center of campus. \u201cThat\u2019s why I needed to talk to you this morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo that\u2019s why we\u2019re taking this walk,\u201d Leinth said, her voice slow and soft. \u201cI wondered.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, now you know,\u201d J.T. muttered, then scrubbed a hand over his face. He took a long, slow sip of coffee. \u201cI have to figure out a way to tell Carolyn if she hasn\u2019t already figured out what I\u2019m dreaming about. She already knows I\u2019m dreaming. She\u2019s woken me a couple of times and thank god that she did because I don\u2019t know what the hell I\u2019d have done if she hadn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s good for you,\u201d Leinth said softly, crossing her arms against her chest even as she sipped at her tea. Her gaze focused distantly, tracking something that J.T. couldn\u2019t quite see, wasn\u2019t sure he wanted to see. She was older than he was, in years and in the world they\u2019d settled into. She\u2019d always been able to see the strangeness.<\/p>\n<p>This was all still at least a little new to him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToo good, I sometimes think,\u201d J.T. murmured.
