Phelan exhaled through his teeth. That was incredibly helpful, thank you.<\/em> He would have glared at the sky if he\u2019d thought it would help. Instead, he stared at the fire, silent, jaw tightening briefly. \u201cDon\u2019t get like that, Marin,\u201d he said, forcing his jaw to unclench.<\/p>\n

Getting worked up won\u2019t do anyone any good, now will it?<\/em><\/p>\n

Another exhaled sigh.<\/p>\n

Marin shook her head. \u201cDon\u2019t start, Phelan. Not today.\u201d<\/p>\n

She\u2019s in some kind of foul mood, isn\u2019t she?<\/em> Phelan began to reconsider trying to get to the bottom of what was actually bothering her.<\/p>\n

What good will it do right now, though?<\/em><\/p>\n

Thunder growled again in the distance. Even at this distance, he could hear the wind start in the trees, rustling branches and leaves. The tent\u2019s snapped in the wind once, then settled.<\/p>\n

The world went dead silent for a few seconds.<\/p>\n

He hadn\u2019t thought his bad feeling could get worse.<\/p>\n
