It was Thom that broke the silence again, after another dozen steps, as they drew closer to their own door and the promise of dry clothes, warm blankets, and their bed. \u201cDo you ever see them with children in your visions?\u201d<\/p>\n

Marin blinked, glancing sidelong at him, brow furrowing. \u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHecate and Matt,\u201d he murmured. \u201cDo you ever see them with children?\u201d<\/p>\n

Her stomach twisted and she frowned a little deeper, half wondering what had brought the question on. \u201cI never really thought about it,\u201d she said softly.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you ever see us with more than one?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThom, what are you\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d he said, voice breaking as he said it. \u201cI don\u2019t know what I\u2019m getting at. I just\u2014I just keep thinking, that\u2019s all. I keep thinking about a lot of things and then there are things that I\u2019m not thinking about that just appear<\/em>. The thought just pops and I don\u2019t know what to do about it. And then\u2014and then<\/em>\u2014there are things that I don\u2019t think about that are just suddenly there<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThom,\u201d her voice came quietly, soothingly, her stomach in knots, bile creeping higher in her throat. \u201cTalk to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

He shook his head as he opened their door, limping inside. She followed, shutting the door behind them as Thom turned up the lamp on their bedside table.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re not making any sense,\u201d Marin said softly, carrying Lin to his cradle. She shifted his blankets and laid him down gently, then spread his blanket over him again. Thom sat down on the edge of their bed, reaching down to start taking off his shoes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know,\u201d he murmured. \u201cI know and I\u2019m sorry. I just\u2014I drew something today while I was talking to Matt and I don\u2019t remember thinking about drawing it and I don\u2019t remember actually drawing it and I don\u2019t know what it means.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marin\u2019s stomach dropped. \u201cWhat was it?\u201d<\/p>\n
