\u201cSomething\u2019s coming,\u201d Leinth said before Phelan could start explaining. My gaze snapped toward her and she met my eyes steadily, expression grim. \u201cAn old enemy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhich one?\u201d I asked slowly, surprised that I didn\u2019t feel anything at the words. Slowly, I took a sip of coffee, watching, waiting.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of mine,\u201d she said, as if that explained everything. \u201cOne of Seamus\u2019s, too, I suspect.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHow much time do we have?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d she said, then looked at Phelan. \u201cThough it did explain the bad feeling that both Phelan and Tala had this morning, doesn\u2019t it?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve all been having them,\u201d Hecate said, drawing her face away from Matt\u2019s shoulder to look up at us. \u201cFor days, almost.\u201d She exhaled, wiping her eyes and sitting up a little straighter. \u201cI\u2019m sorry. I didn\u2019t\u2014I didn\u2019t mean to burst into tears like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

I smiled and shook my head. \u201cIt\u2019s okay, Hecate. I think I cried a little bit, too, when I figured out I was pregnant and started telling people. It\u2019s…it\u2019s emotional.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is,\u201d she agreed softly. \u201cIt…it really, really is.\u201d She seemed like she wanted to say more but chose not to. I drifted over, handed Matt the cup of coffee I\u2019d poured for him.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo there\u2019s something coming,\u201d Matt said quietly. \u201cWhen?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d Leinth said. \u201cI just know I can feel it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut not what\u2014who,\u201d Phelan said, watching her carefully.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot yet,\u201d Leinth said softly. \u201cBut I haven\u2019t woken Seamus yet, either.\u201d<\/p>\n

I winced. \u201cAre you going to have to?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cProbably.\u201d She studied me for a few seconds. \u201cUnless you can sense something.\u201d<\/p>\n

I shook my head. \u201cNo,\u201d I said softly. \u201cAnd I haven\u2019t seen anything, either.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThen I\u2019d best go wake him,\u201d Leinth said, a measure of regret in her voice. She gulped down some coffee and turned to go. I winced, scrubbing a hand over my face.<\/p>\n

\u201cWait,\u201d I said. \u201cI could try the cards.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s a gate I\u2019d rather not open, I think,\u201d Leinth said, smiling sadly at me. \u201cStay here. I\u2019ll be back.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShould we post extra watches?\u201d Tala asked, looking at her. \u201cBe ready for imminent attack?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re always ready for imminent attack,\u201d Leinth said quietly. \u201cThe question is always who<\/em> is about to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
