\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cAre you going to tell me I\u2019m wrong?\u201d he asked softly.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Matt took a few deep breaths, his jaw tightening for a few seconds before it relaxed.\u00a0 It was only afterwards that he finally shook his head.\u00a0 \u201cNo.\u00a0 No, I\u2019m not going to tell you that you\u2019re wrong but dammit, I wish you were.\u201d\u00a0 He started to pace again, back and forth, gaze focused on the fire.\u00a0 Anslem watched him with an impassive expression, leaning back slightly with arms crossed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cThe Hecate question aside for now, who do you think will muster beyond the men and women on the Hunt?\u201d\u00a0 The question was simply stated, quietly asked.\u00a0 Anselm kept watching Matt as he paced\u2014and the pacing continued without so much as a pause.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Matt stayed silent, thinking, pivoting to change direction before he answered after a few minutes of silent consideration.\u00a0 \u201cThordin and I in the front,\u201d he said.\u00a0 \u201cMarin, Leinth, probably Tala.\u00a0 J.T. and maybe Carolyn and Jacqueline.\u00a0 Definitely Phelan.\u00a0 Beyond that, I\u2019m not sure.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know if Sif\u2019s ready and we already talked about Cameron\u2014Neve won\u2019t go because someone needs to stay behind with Seamus, especially if Leinth and Hecate both come.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Anselm may not have picked up on it, but Thom heard the hesitation and uncertainty that was buried in Matt\u2019s voice.\u00a0 He wasn\u2019t sure who else would volunteer to help with this plan beyond the people he\u2019d named.\u00a0 Thom couldn\u2019t blame him for not being sure\u2014not entirely\u2014but he suspected that the others would surprise him.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
