furrowed and she closed her mouth, glancing between the glimmer at her shoulder and me.\u00a0 \u201cCan\u2019t you see him?\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I opened my mouth to speak, then closed it again, shaking my head.\u00a0 \u201cOnly as little glimmers of light.\u201d\u00a0 I dropped my voice low.\u00a0 \u201cCare, don\u2019t tell <em>anyone<\/em>.\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cThey\u2019ll think I\u2019m crazy, right?\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cMore crazy than I\u2019m sure some of them already think Kellin and I are, yes.\u201d\u00a0 I motioned her closer and she edged nearer, settling so she was almost knee-to-knee with me.\u00a0 \u201cMaybe a little, maybe a lot.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know.\u00a0 Rory and Drew will believe you if you tell them.\u00a0 Kellin definitely will.\u00a0 Don\u2019t tell Thom.\u00a0 J.T. might be okay.\u00a0 My brother\u2019ll think you\u2019re a little crazy, but he\u2019ll shrug it off like he shrugs off my other than maybe badly.\u00a0 I don\u2019t need him to talk you into not believing, or thinking you\u2019re as crazy as the rest of us.\u00a0 He\u2019ll get upset.\u00a0 He says he believes <\/em>me<em>, but I know he\u2019ll get upset.<\/em><br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Carolyn frowned at me, then nodded.\u00a0 \u201cAll right.\u00a0 I guess I have to trust your judgment, right?\u201d\u00a0 She paused, brow furrowing.\u00a0 \u201cAre you guys okay?\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cYeah, we\u2019re fine.\u201d\u00a0 I probably said it too fast, but she believed me anyway\u2014and if she didn\u2019t, she had the grace not to say anything.\u00a0 \u201cJust been scaring the crap out of each other the past few days.\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m glad you guys are back together,\u201d Carolyn said quietly.\u00a0 \u201cHe\u2019s kind of impossible without you.\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>He\u2019s impossible with me, too.<\/em>\u00a0 I smiled wryly.\u00a0 \u201cWho told you that?\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s kind of obvious.\u201d\u00a0 She grinned at me and squeezed my fingers.\u00a0 \u201cNow he\u2019s just being stubborn.\u00a0 And a perfectionist.\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cYou\u2019re talking about the shelter situation.\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cI know he\u2019s working on it, Mar, but if what just happened should tell us anything, it\u2019s that this tent thing isn\u2019t going to work for long.\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I sighed.\u00a0 \u201cI know.\u00a0 I\u2019ll talk to him.\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cYou don\u2019t have to,\u201d Thom said quietly, limping into our range of vision.\u00a0 \u201cI know it\u2019s a problem.\u201d\u00a0 He smiled weakly at Carolyn and handed her the giant mug of something steaming that he\u2019d been carrying.\u00a0 \u201cThis morning made that pretty abundantly clear.\u201d\u00a0 He winced as he sat down next to me, brushing some hair out of my face as he reclaimed the mug from Carolyn once he was settled.\u00a0 Whatever was in it didn\u2019t smell that great.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cHere,\u201d he said as he pressed the mug into my hands.\u00a0 I must have made a face, because he glared at me.\u00a0 \u201cMar, just drink it.\u00a0 It should help.\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cHelp what?\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cLeah just said that it should help, okay?\u00a0 Drink it.\u201d\u00a0 Pain flickered in his eyes.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>Worry.\u00a0 He\u2019s worried again.<\/em>\u00a0 I stopped arguing and drank.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It tasted about as bad as it smelled, which was a little bit like old socks.\u00a0 I shuddered.\u00a0 Carolyn gave me a sympathetic smile.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019ll let you two be,\u201d she said.\u00a0 I just nodded.\u00a0 Thom wrapped his arm around my shoulders.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cJ.T. was looking for you, Care.\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 She nodded.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019ll go find him.\u00a0 Thanks, Thom.\u201d\u00a0 She waved a little to me and wandered off.\u00a0 I looked at Thom.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cWhat\u2019re you going to do?\u00a0 Or should I not ask.\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 After a moment\u2019s hesitation, he just shook his head and wrapped both arms around me.\u00a0 \u201cProbably better not to ask.\u00a0 Anything I say right now\u2019s going to come out half-baked anyhow.\u201d\u00a0 He went quiet and I took another swallow of the foul brew, trying not to taste it.\u00a0 I was starting to get a little drowsy.\u00a0 \u201cYou scared me a little today,\u201d Thom finally said in a whisper, breath warm against my ear.\u00a0 \u201cDon\u2019t do it again.\u00a0 Please?\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019ll try not to,\u201d I whispered back, then smiled up at him.\u00a0 He smiled back and brushed my hair away from my face again.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cLove you,\u201d he murmured.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cI love you, too,\u201d I answered, then smiled wryly.\u00a0 \u201cEven if you <em>are<\/em> making me drink this crap.\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He choked on a laugh and squeezed me.\u00a0 I swallowed the last of what was in the cup, shuddered, then set it aside.\u00a0 My eyelids were heavy.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cWhat was that supposed to help with?\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cGo to sleep, Mar,\u201d he murmured.\u00a0 \u201cYou\u2019ll be warmer when you wake up.\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cMmm.\u201d\u00a0 I closed my eyes.\u00a0 Maybe he was right.\u00a0 If he wasn\u2019t, I\u2019d have plenty of time to be
